See, touch, taste and learn about three distinct and intertwining historic cultures that uniquely reflect Natchez's history. Your tour starts in the Ballroom of the Natchez Grand Hotel with a lecture by Historian James Wiggins. The motor coach takes you to Historic Jefferson College, built in the early 1800s at Washington, Miss., the first school in Adams County. Then on to Foster Mound, built on a log cabin by 1783, and maybe the oldest structure in Adams County. The original log structure is visible through a glass pane inside the home, which has been enlarged through the years. End your tour at Glen Mary, built about 1850, a typical Greek Revival planter’s cottage where you will enjoy a picnic.
Tours are on Tuesday, March 21; Sunday, March 26; Sunday, April 2; and Sunday, April 16.
Tours begin at the Natchez Grand Hotel at 5:00 p.m. and tours end back at the Natchez Grand Hotel at approximately 8:15.
